Linking Instagram Account Fails with Error Code 400

At times, when customer tries to link Instagram Account to the InstaFeed app, they will run into this error:

{"error_type": "OAuthException", "code": 400, "error_message": "Your account is connected to Facebook account, and your Facebook account's future off-Facebook activity is currently turned off."}

This error means the customer has disabled 'off-Facebook Activity'. While this feature allows customers to control what website data is tracked by Facebook, it can also prevent other platforms they are integrated with from accessing the data needed to connect to their accounts.

To get rid of the error:

  • Log in to your account on the Facebook site and then click on the down arrow from the top right of the screen.

  • Select Settings & Privacy and click on the Settings option.

  • Now, click on Your Facebook Information from the left column and then on the Off-Facebook Activity option.

  • Click More options from the right sidebar and then select Manage Future Activity.

  • You'll now see a pop-up screen from where you need to click on the Manage Future Activity button.

  • Now, click on the button next to the Future Off-Facebook Activity option to turn on the ‘off-Facebook activity'

If you don't have a Facebook business account, the same process needs to be followed for a personal account.

Once done, please try relinking the app again and it should work.

Things to do if the above steps fail

1. Inform the customer that there seems to be an issue and that you need to engage the development team.  Inform them that you will follow up over email once the issue has been resolved. Gracefully end the live chat.

2. Send an email to contact@zegsu.com with the issue description and the chat transcript.

The subject line should be: InstaFeed - OAuthException - <shop name>
